Technology integration in the classroom occurs when technology and TEKS
are fused together in a learning experience – we call this TechFusion. TechFusion
is a process, not an event.
This fusion occurs over time; building on a foundation of knowledge
and skills, moving through the application of those skills
to everyday tasks, and evolving into a transparent use of technology for teaching
and learning.
Irving Independent School District strives to accommodate a teacher’s
modality of learning as well as a student’s. TechFusion empowers teachers
by giving them choices that meet their curriculum needs in the type and quality
of technology use in the classroom.
The ultimate goal of TechFusion is to provide our students with the necessary
tools for success in a changing world.

TechFusion will allow a teacher to start at their own comfort level,
instead of having to work from the very beginning. If a teacher is already knowledgeable
and has the necessary skills, they can jump in at the integration level without
having to fill in skill checklists. However, if they need help on skills, it is
available online, 24 hours a day. These stages are suggested starting points.
You will be able to start wherever you are in the process. If you are ready
for the Integration level, then that is where you will start.
TechFusion Goals
TechFusion takes the state’s objectives which have been embedded into
our district’s board goals and these goals have become part of our district improvement
plan which is reflected in each campus’ individual improvement plans. Ultimately,
it is up to the classroom teacher to make these goals a reality, so with the TechFusion
initiative you will be able to achieve the goals and objectives established by the
state, our local school board and your campus administrators.
